I love to create. I love the hatching of an idea. I love thinking about how to start a creative process, figuring out the steps to bring that idea into its physical form. I feel that creating is a natural part of life. It is something that is innate in all living things. I have come to realize that I can’t stop myself from being creative, not even if I tried.

When I discovered silversmithing, I felt like I had found it - that creative path that I would never tire of. There are so many things to learn, from the basic processes to the more complex.

My love of gems, stones and minerals, has become a cornerstone of my practice, allowing me to include a little piece of nature into each lovingly crafted piece.

I have always been obsessed with searching out unique semiprecious and precious stones. Whether they are faceted, smooth, shiny or raw, these little pieces of the natural world have been formed for thousands of years, through nature’s creative processes and then become a part of mine. My hope is that I can transmute these beautiful stones and gems from something static, into something that you can touch, feel, and carry with you throughout your life.

My aesthetic is hard to pin down. I have always been inspired by organic shapes, often drawing inspiration from the world around me - the star like shape of a borage flower, the texture of a sage leaf, or the symmetry of a succulent plant are all aspects of my environment that inspire me. I enjoy experimenting with etching, stamps and and other textures, forming interesting patterns and depth to my work.

Recently, I have gained an appreciation for geometric forms, and have been exploring these shapes in my pieces. Utilizing layers, line, and light with these forms, challenges my usual desire for curved lines, pushing me in new directions to find balance and aesthetically pleasing combinations. These aspects make my work earthy, yet modern.

Combining stones with silver, gold, copper, bronze or brass, allow them to become wearable art. Drawing on all of these unique elements, each piece is a one-of-a-kind, making it special to me and ultimately, special to its final owner.

The process of creation feeds my soul! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share this love with you!
